The Tulsa Oilers finished off a perfect weekend with their third win of the weekend on a Sunday afternoon in Allen, Texas. Tulsa took the Allen American 4-3 in 60 minutes.
For the third consecutive night the Oilers placed themselves on the board first. Midway through the first period Tom Kroshus, Tulsa rookie out of Princeton University, scored his first professional goal. Andrew Johnston and Mathieu Brisebois took assists.
Johnston earned his second assist just a minute later at the 12:41 mark when he got the puck to Brady Ramsay for a goal. The Oilers controlled a 2-0 lead through the remainder of the 20 minutes.
Only 44 seconds into the second frame, Tulsa leading point producer Adam Pleskach blasted one past Joel Rumpel for his 20th of the season.
The Oilers’ dominating 3-0 lead came to an end when Casey Pierro-Zabotel took advantage of the power play opportunity with Ben Walker in the box for slashing.
The Americans went back-to-back as Vincebt Arseneau picked up a point when he got one past Jussi Olkinuora with the help of Pierro-Zabotel and Dave Makowski. The second period ended 3-2.
Late into the final frame Phil Brewer got the puck lose for an open Ramsay who scored shorthanded for a 4-2 Tulsa lead.
Allen battled to trail by only one when Gary Steffes found a spot in front of the net and back handed the puck in for a goal. It was the goal as time ran out and the Oilers took back-to-back wins over the Americans.
The Tulsa Oilers completed the weekend earning six out of a possible six points. They now own 67 points and a 31-25-3-2 record.
The Oilers will travel to Utah this week to face the Grizzlies in West Valley City. The two Western Conference squads will meet on on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Last night the Oilers were able to skid their seven-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the league-leaders, the Missouri Mavericks. Tulsa snatched two points with the team from 99, advancing themselves to 63. The home team produced three goals off of Nathan Lutz, Mathieu Gagnon and Phil Brewer in front of over 14,000 fans. Tonight the Oilers look for the same outcome against their other Central Division foes, the Allen Americans. Allen is just one spot above the Oilers in their division with 78 points. The Oilers are 8-5-0-0 against the Americans this season.
ROAD TO KELLY
After a Quad City Mallards win last weekend, the Oilers have lost their playoff position status. The Mallards hold the 8th place spot with 66 points as the Oilers trail with 63, four points ahead of the Indy Fuel. Out of the remaining 13 games, the Oilers play three that are within ten points (Quad City Mallards, Colorado Eagles and Utah Grizzlies). Tulsa controls their own destiny as they look to get back in the race to the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
SPECIAL TEAMS
The Oilers penalty kill has maintained success throughout the season until recently. In each of their last five games, Tulsa has given up at least one goal against to the opposing team on the power play.
On the road, the Oilers may be in dead last at 28th on the power play, but at home they are 5th. Tulsa returns to the BOK Center this weekend to utilize their 20 percent on the man advantage status.
MOOSE MOVES
Last week the Oilers were re-assigned forward Ben Walker and lost Brennan Serville and Dan DeSalvo to the Manitoba Moose, the Oilers American Hockey League affiliate. DeSalvo, on a contact with Tulsa, made his AHL debut with the Moose on Wednesday night with the Moose where he produced an assist. In his second game, DeSlavo tallied his first AHL goal against the Grand Rapids Giffins on Friday, March 11. In four games, the forward has four points.

Oilers Dennis Brown ranks 10th among ECHL defenseman with 32 points, notching 5 goals and 27 assists in 56 games played. His 27 assists rank him third among his fellow defenseman. The Cypress, California native’s last point came on March 4 against the Evansville IceMen.

Kevin Carr is 11th among goaltenders with a 2.26 goals against average and 2nd in minutes with 2498… Phil Brewer is 16th among rookies with 35 points (20 goals and 15 assist)..
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
The Oilers are on a seven game losing streak—their longest of the season. Their last two match-ups and losses have been to the Missouri Mavericks, both in Missouri. Of the 11 games they have played against one another this season, only three contest have not been one-goal games.
