RUSH KNOCK OFF OILERS 5-2 ON THANKSGIVING EVE

Rapid City never trailed in three-goal victory over Tulsa in first of three games this week in South Dakota.

RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City Rush bettered the Tulsa Oilers 5-2 Wednesday in the first meeting of three this week at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

 

The Rush jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 7:51 of the first period, when Pavel Jenys buried a shot at the end of a 2-on-1 rush. Tulsa tied the game less than two minutes later when Conner Bleackley set up Kale Kessy for a tap-in goal. Rapid City regained the lead before the end of the period, when Alex Kromm scored with 1:48 to play.

 

Evan Janssen added to Rapid City’s lead with a one-timer 54 seconds into the middle frame, and Gustav Bourammen made it 4-1 later in the period. Tulsa replaced starting goaltender Devin Williams with backup Jake Hildebrand entering the third period.

 

Dante Salituro fired in a rebound off the post early in the third period to give the Rush a 5-1 advantage and Salituro a three-point game, before the Oilers’ Charlie Sampair completed the scoring with his fifth of the season. Storm Phaneuf stopped 29 of 31 Tulsa shots for his first win of the season.
