OILERS’ WILLIAMS BLANKS ALLEN FOR FIRST PRO SHUTOUT

Tulsa wins back-to-back home games over the Americans, thanks to a 45-save shutout by rookie goaltender Devin Williams.

TULSA, OK – A 45-save performance from rookie Devin Williams led the Tulsa Oilers to a 2-0 win over the Allen Americans on Saturday night at the BOK Center. It was the first pro shutout for Williams and second straight victory over the Americans.

Both goaltenders stole the show in the opening period as Williams stopped all 18 shots he faced, and Americans goaltender Stephon Williams made 14 saves in a scoreless frame.

Allen outshot Tulsa 15-9 in the second period, but neither team managed to find the back of the net, as the score remained 0-0 after two.

Oilers captain Adam Pleskach broke the scoreless deadlock 6:16 into the third period when he threw a puck to the net from the corner that fooled the Allen goaltender. Kale Kessy added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the 2-0 win.

The Oilers head to Texas for a Sunday matinee against the Americans at 4:05pm at the Allen Event Center to wrap up the weekend series. Catch all the action on The Sports Animal Radio Network (99.9FM/1550AM), www.tulsaoilers.com or ECHL.TV.
