Tulsa captain Adam Pleskach posted two points in leading the Oilers to a 2-1 win over Idaho at the BOK Center.

TULSA, OK – The Tulsa Oilers locked down the Idaho Steelheads defensively Saturday in a 2-1 win on Opening Night at the BOK Center.

The Oilers jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the opening period, as captain Adam Pleskach scored the first goal of the season from a sharp angle. Pleskach then set up rookie forward Jared Thomas late in the period with a pass from behind the net. Thomas quickly fired a wrist shot past Idaho goaltender Ryan Faragher from the slot for his first pro goal to make it 2-0.

The teams exchanged 10 shots each in the second period, but both Faragher and Tulsa goaltender Devin Williams stood tall, as the Oilers maintained their two-goal cushion. Williams stopped all 19 shots through the first 40 minutes.

It appeared the Oilers would cruise to a shutout on opening night with a power play in the final minutes of regulation, but Brad McClure capitalized on a Tulsa turnover for a short-handed goal with 1:02 to play. Williams stopped 32 shots as the Oilers completed the 2-1 win.

The same two teams will face-off again Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm to complete Opening Weekend at the BOK Center. Gates open at 3pm. There will be a postgame skate for the fans with the Oilers players on the ice after the game.

The Tulsa Oilers begin their fifth ECHL season and 11th season of hockey at the BOK Center on Saturday, October 13, when the club hosts the Idaho Steelheads.
