OILERS RE-SIGN MOYNIHAN FOR SECOND SEASON
AHL-seasoned forward Danny Moynihan returns to Tulsa for second season with Oilers, third under head coach Rob Murray
TULSA, OK — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks, announced Wednesday the signing of forward Danny Moynihan.
Moynihan, 24, returns to Tulsa after posting 43 points (19G, 24A) in 53 games with the Oilers last season, not missing a beat after sitting out the 2018-19 season. The dynamic forward also tallied one goal in four games on loan with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. Moynihan has registered 136 points (55G, 81A) in 172 ECHL games split among stints in Alaska, Kalamazoo and Tulsa. The 6’1, 190 lbs. forward has also played 15 total AHL games, appearing for Utica and Manitoba.
“I’m excited to have Danny back as he’s a dynamic, two-way centerman,” said head coach Rob Murray. “He can be used on the power play and the penalty kill, and he brings a ton to the table. He picked up 19 goals last year after having a slow start acclimating from a year off, and I expect him to impress again this year.”
Prior to turning pro, Moynihan racked up 166 points (78G, 88A) in 197 games in the QMJHL. The Boston, MA native spent the majority of his junior career with the Halifax Mooseheads, but finished his career with the Shawinigan Catarctes in 2015-16, reaching the QMJHL finals. Moynihan contributed significantly in his postseason appearances at the junior level, playing in 51 games while compiling 46 points (16G, 30A) and registering a +21 rating.
