OILERS RE-SIGN FIRST PLAYER AHEAD OF 2021-22 CAMPAIGN
Oilers sign gritty forward Alex Kromm ahead of 2021-22 season
TULSA, OK— The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, announced Tuesday the signing of forward Alex Kromm.
Kromm, 29, returns to the Oilers after winning the 2020-21 Vic Poole Never Give Up Award, collecting 18 points (7G, 11A) and his first career hat trick last season with the team. Kromm logged 97 PIM and a +2 rating over the campaign as well.
The Penticton, BC native has appeared in 226 career ECHL games, notching 61 points (24G, 37A) between Jacksonville, Toledo, Tulsa, Rapid City and Wheeling.
“Alex is a player that every team needs,” head coach Rob Murray said. “His work ethic is exceptional. I’ve always admired his attention to detail, and he brings a physical presence every game. Krommer is one of those guys who absolutely loves to play the game.”
Prior to turning pro, Kromm played four seasons with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, registering 48 points (19G, 29A) in 111 games with the Pointers.
The 5’11, 185 lbs. forward is the son of former NHL player and ECHL coach Rich Kromm and the grandson of former NHL coach Bobby Kromm. His sister Erica played four years at Brown before playing professionally in the CWHL and PWHPA.
The Oilers kick off their 2021-22 season on the road against Rapid City on Oct. 23. The Oilers home opener is on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7:05 p.m. against the Kansas City Mavericks.
