OILERS GRAB POINT IN SHOOTOUT LOSS

Charlie Sampair scored a third-period goal, earning a point for the Oilers

TULSA, OK   — The Oilers lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday night at the BOK Center.   

Both teams left the opening 20 minutes scoreless. There were 13 combined PIM, with Tulsa killing off a major penalty, and Utah killing a double-minor and a minor.

Hayden Hodgson opened the scoring 8:02 into the middle period, sticking with the play before popping a low rebound past Devin Williams.

Charlie Sampair knotted the game 1-1 with 7:59 remaining in regulation, burying a rebound from the high slot to force overtime.

Sampair deposited another goal in the overtime frame, but the goal was waved off after a quick whistle on the play. No other chances found their way home, leading to a shootout.

Sampair also found the back of the net in the shootout, but Ryan Lowney and Trey Bradley both buried their chances in the opening two rounds, giving Utah the second point of the contest.
