Oilers nab former division rival Darby Llewellyn ahead of the 2020-21 campaign
TULSA, OK — The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, announced Friday the signing of forward Darby Llewellyn.
Llewellyn, 24, returns to the United States after spending the 2019-20 season with Piráti Chomutov, compiling 32 points (18G, 14A) through 54 games in Czechia.
The Ann Arbor, MI native spent the majority of the 2018-19 campaign with Rapid City, tallying 23 points (6G, 17A) and 58 PIM in 44 games with the Rush. Prior to playing in Rapid City, Llewellyn registered 30 points (17G, 13A) and 61 PIM in 66 games with the Atlanta Gladiators.
“Darby brings two years of ECHL experience prior to spending last year in Europe,” head coach Rob Murray said. “He’s a dependable hard-working player that gives an honest effort. He is very excited to come to Tulsa, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to win.”
A product of the OHL, Llewellyn spent his entire junior career with Kitchener, collecting 171 points (95G, 76A) in 301 games for the Rangers. The 6’0, 190 lbs. forward’s 301 games are third all time for the Rangers, and he ranks first among all American-born players in games played for Kitchener. He is one of only three players in Rangers’ history to log 300 games.
