TULSA, OK – The Tulsa Oilers, ECHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose, announced a trade with the Fort Wayne Komets on Tuesday that sends defenseman Austin Levi to Tulsa in exchange for future considerations.

The 23-year old Levi was a third round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010 NHL Draft and has split his time over the last two seasons between the AHL and ECHL. In 2014-15, Levi, a native of Columbus, Ohio, appeared in 15 games for the Charlotte Checkers (AHL), three games for the Florida Everblades (ECHL), and 43 contests for the Stockton Thunder (ECHL). During his time in Stockton, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Levi posted five goals, 11 assists, and 23 penalty minutes. In his rookie campaign of 2013-14, Levi played 10 games for Charlotte and put up 15 points (2 goals, 13 assists) in 53 outings for Florida. Before turning pro, Levi played five seasons of major-junior hockey for the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) and helped his team to five consecutive appearances in the postseason.

The addition of Levi gives the Oilers seven defenseman on the preseason roster. Tulsa’s training camp continues on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Oilers Ice Center (6413 S. Mingo Rd). The Oilers’ annual Media Day is set for 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the BOK Center and the squad will open the 2015-16 regular season on Friday, October 16 at 7:05 p.m. against the Wichita Thunder.
