Tulsa’s Olkinuora named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week
Jussi Olkinuora of the Tulsa Oilers is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for April 4-9. It is the second time in his career that he has reeived the weekly honor.
The 25-year-old went 4-0-0 with a 0.99 goals-against average and a save percentage of .959 in four appearances last week.
Olkinuora stopped 22 shots in a 4-1 win at Missouri on Tuesday, made 28 saves in a 5-1 victory at Wichitaon Wednesday, had 30 saves in a 2-1 win at Wichita on Friday and stopped 17 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Thunder on Saturday.
Under contract with Manitoba of the American Hockey League, Olkinuora appeared in 26 games for the Oilers this season with a record of 14-9-2, a 2.52 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. He also saw action in six games with Manitoba.
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Olkinuora has appeared in 96 career ECHL games with Tulsa and Ontario posting an overall record of 55-29-9 with two shutouts, a 2.61 goals-against average and a save percentage of .907. He has 21 games of AHL experience with St. John’s and Manitoba.
Prior to turning pro, he played two seasons at the University of Denver and one season with Sioux Falls in the United States Hockey League.
