TULSA, OK – Allen goaltender C.J. Motte stopped all 43 Tulsa shots Saturday leading the Americans (4-10-2) to a 2-0 win over the Oilers (7-2-4) at the BOK Center.
The Oilers outshot the Americans 15-8 in the scoreless first period, as Devin Williams and Motte both stopped several solid scoring chances. Tulsa was unsuccessful on one power play opportunity in the frame, while Allen was 0-for-2.
Tulsa dominated the second period, outshooting Allen 18-7, but the Americans broke the scoreless deadlock when Adam Miller snapped a shot over Williams’ glove on a 2-on-1 rush. The Oilers led 33-15 in shots on goal through 40 minutes, but the Americans held the 1-0 lead on the scoreboard.
Motte was rock solid all game and ended up with 43 saves to earn his second shutout of the season. Spencer Asuchak added an insurance goal for the Americans late in regulation to make it 2-0.
The Oilers begin a four-game week Tuesday at the BOK Center against the Wichita Thunder at 7:05pm.
