LAST WEEK:  0-1-1

FRIDAY, MAR. 24 – ALLEN 5, TULSA 4 (OT)  (Allen Event Center – Allen, TX)

Box Score

Allen took a 1-0 lead in the first period, when Tyler Barnes banked a centering pass off the skate of Gary Steffes and in. Barnes made it 2-0 just 49 seconds into the second period on the Americans’ first power play. Tyson Wilson cut Tulsa’s deficit to one, when he threw a centering pass off of an Allen skate from the corner, and Eric Drapluk tied the game with a shot from the point through a screen. Barnes added his second power play goal with 2:07 left in the frame to give the Americans a 3-2 lead after two. Darcy Murphy tied things up again for the Oilers 32 seconds into the third period, but Alex Krushelnyski put Allen back in front with 6:45 to play. 1:07 later, Danick Gauthier buried his own rebound to bring the score to 4-4 and force overtime. After a scoreless extra period, Barnes scored the only shootout goal for either side, as Riley Gill out-dueled P.J. Musico in net to give the Americans the win.

SATURDAY, MAR. 25 – ALLEN 4, TULSA 3  (Allen Event Center – Allen, TX)

Box Score

The Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead for the second straight night, as Zach Hall and Josh Brittain each scored first period goals. Danick Paquette scored his first of two second period goals at 6:03 of the frame to cut Allen’s lead in half, but Alex Krushelnyski answered to open the Americans’ advantage back to two goals. Paquette scored again with 3:54 left in the period to bring the score to 3-2 heading into the third. Krushelnyski found the net a second time 7:27 into the final stanza to provide insurance to Allen’s lead, which proved to be important, because the Oilers’ Shawn Bates made it 4-3 when he scored on a 5-on-3 power play with 7:21 left in regulation. Tulsa put up 20 shots on Riley Gill in the third period, but the Americans hung on to win.
