TULSA, OK – A tight week-long series between the Tulsa Oilers and the Wichita Thunder ended in dramatic shootout fashion with the Oilers taking their fourth straight victory over Wichita, Saturday night at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Wichita’s leading scorer Alexis Louiseau scored the game’s first goal on a breakaway eight minutes into the game, when he snuck a backhander past Tulsa goaltender Jamie Phillips. Both teams were unsuccessful on their only power play opportunities, and shots were even at 7-7 after one.

The Oilers outshot the Thunder 12-6 in the second period, but were stymied by Wichita goalie Drew Owsley, who stopped all 19 Tulsa shots through two periods. Phillips stopped all six Thunder shots in the frame to keep the score 1-0.

Owsley held off a mounting Oilers’ attack until Adam Pleskach ended Tulsa’s 31-oppurtunity power play drought with just over five minutes remaining in the game. Pleskach tipped Christophe Lalancette’s opportunity, which was created by Eric Drapluk.

Neither team found the back of the net during an intense three-on-three overtime period. Ben Murphy scored the only shootout goal to give the Oilers the victory. Tulsa earned all six possible points during their week-long series against the Thunder.

After three games against the Thunder, the Oilers now prepare for a three-game week against the Allen Americans. Tulsa hosts Allen Tuesday night at 7:05pm at the BOK Center. It’s “Dollar Beer Night”, as fans 21 and over can purchase beers for $1 at the designated concession stand. The Oilers then travel to Texas for two more games against the Americans Friday and Saturday at the Allen Event Center.
