Rob Murray
Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations
Murray signed with the Oilers in June 2017, after spending the previous six seasons with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces. The Toronto native has a long history of success as a player and coach. During his tenure in Anchorage, Murray led Alaska to three consecutive Brabham Cups with the best regular season record in the ECHL from 2011-12 to 2013-14. The Aces captured the Kelly Cup that third season. Murray brought Tulsa it’s first division title since 1975-1976 in 2019, winning the regular and postseason Mountain Division titles before reaching game seven of the Western Conference Finals.
The 55-year-old began his coaching career in 2003 as Assistant for the AHL’s Providence Bruins, where he stayed in that role for five seasons. Murray was promoted to Head Coach in Providence in 2008, and spent the next three seasons there before heading to Alaska to coach the Aces. In total, the Toronto, ON native has coached more than 1000 games.
Murray was drafted in the third round by the Washington Capitals at the 1985 NHL Entry Draft, and enjoyed a 16-year playing career. He played in over 1,000 AHL games throughout his career, and dressed in over 100 NHL games split between the Capitals, Winnipeg Jets and Phoenix Coyotes. In January 2017, Murray was inducted into the American Hockey League’s Hall of Fame.
Scott Dutertre
Assistant Coach
Scott joined the Oilers ahead of the 2021-22 season, serving as an Assistant Coach with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League over the previous three seasons. Prior to his time in the WHL, Dutertre worked as an Assistant Coach with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men’s and Women’s programs respectively, reaching the national championships four times.
Since 1998, Scott has worked on the player development side as a Skating and Skills Coach working with over 1500 professional, college and junior players. In addition, he has had the opportunity to develop countless players and coaches from around the world. His international experience includes working as a National Skating and Skills Coach and Coach Mentor for Ice Hockey Australia and training players from Team China Men’s and Team Canada Women’s Olympic teams.

Steve Lintern
Athletic Trainer
Steve is in his ninth year as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Oilers, through the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. He has volunteered at the Dallas Stars Development Camp and worked at the Winnipeg Jets Preseason Camp during his stint in pro hockey. Steve previously worked for Advanced Orthopedic Specialists in Fayetteville, Arkansas as the Head Athletic Trainer for all Club Sports at the University of Arkansas, while also working in different capacities for the Razorbacks football team from 2010-14.
He interned with the Cleveland Browns in 2008-09, and returned in 2012 as a Seasonal Intern Athletic Trainer. He has also worked with multiple Top-10 American Marathoners, Olympic Runners, World Class Triathletes, professional boxers, professional basketball players and All-American Swimmers in a private capacity. Steve double-majored in Athletic Training and Exercise Science in 2010 at Mount Union College, where he played football and was part of two National Championships. He completed his Masters Degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science at the University of Arkansas in 2011. Steve and his wife Anna are both Ironman Triathletes and currently live in Tulsa with their four-year-old son Lukas, one-year-old daughter Rosie and Australian Heeler, Rinny.

Tony Deynzer
Head Equipment Manager
A native of Peoria, Ill., Deynzer returns to Tulsa ahead of the 2023-24 season, having previously served as the Oilers’ Head Equipment Manager in 2020-21. The veteran equipment manager broke into the industry in 1995 with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the NAHL, winning the Robertson Cup with the team in 1996. Deynzer made the jump to professional hockey in 1997 as the Assistant Equipment Manager of his hometown Peoria Rivermen. Over the last three decades, Deynzer had made stops in Louisville, Memphis, San Antonio, Missouri, Corpus Christi and Tupelo. The majority of his career was spent with the Colorado Eagles, serving the team from 2003-2020 in the CHL, ECHL and AHL. Since his last time with Tulsa, Deynzer was the Head Equipment Manager for Mountain-Division Rivals Kansas City (2021-22) and Allen (2022-23).
To date, Deynzer has worked eight All-Star Games, been named the CHL’s Equipment Manager of the Year (2009-10), won one NAHL, two CHL and two ECHL titles and worked nearly 2000 games, with his 1500th game celebrated in 2018.

Sean Barger
Performance Coach
Sean Barger is originally from Tulsa and has been with the Tulsa Oilers for four years. Sean began his training career nearly a decade ago while still attending school, accumulating more than 30 certifications over the years to be as diverse as possible from NASM, NSCA, ISSA, NFPT, PRI, FRC, RPR, FMS and CPR/AED.
In 2019, Sean helped open Sports Performance Institute of Tulsa, where he currently works training athletes and helping direct the sport performances entity. With over 20,000 hours of training, he has experience working with Olympic athletes, professional, college, high school and middle school athletes in a wide variety of sports.__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Jason Small
Performance Coach
Originally from Tulsa, Jason has recently returned to work locally at Sports Performance Institute (SPI) and as a performance coach for the Tulsa Oilers. Jason earned his master’s degree from Merrimack College in Andover Massachusetts. While completing his master’s degree he worked at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, home to multiple Olympians and professional athletes. Prior to his time at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, Jason studied at Missouri State University, spending time coaching in a Division 1 setting and playing for their ice hockey team. Jason is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA. He also holds a CFSC L1 and is CPR/AED certified.
